Pietro Maximoff, known as Quicksilver, debuted in Marvel Comics' *X-Men* #4 (March 1964). He is a mutant possessing the power of superhuman speed.
In the Silver Age comic books, Quicksilver is initially portrayed as a reluctant member of Magneto's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, alongside his twin sister, the Scarlet Witch. He is often depicted as arrogant and hot-headed, using his speed to fight against the X-Men.
Later in his comic book appearances he develops a heroic side, eventually joining the Avengers and fighting for the side of good. His powers allows him to move, think, and react at incredible velocities.
